Two Years and Counting

At midnight on December 31, 1999 we will be part of the biggest global celebration in human history. How will you usher in the new millennium, or so-called billennium?

Better make your reservations now. Word has it that the Sphinx is already booked by folks who believe it will break its stony silence and answer questions about the future. No room at the Eiffel Tower or Hanging Gardens of Babylon either. But no matter. There are dozens of other ways to celebrate. I asked a few friends and associates what they want to do that night.

• Drift in a hot air balloon over Times Square.
• Dance the night away at a huge party with all my family and friends.
• Fulfill a secret fantasy.
• Give away $2000.
• Decorate our street with lights and candles, roll out the grills, and let the neighborhood barbeque begin!
• Cruise around Australia.
• Tour a tropical island on horseback.
• Stay at home and sleep.
• Enjoy a midnight gourmet dinner with wife, children and grandchildren.
• Watch from the Top of the Mark in San Francisco, knowing I have a 10:00 tee time at Pebble Beach the next morning.
• Surf Sunset Beach in Hawaii.

I'm not sure where I'll be or what I'll be doing yet, but I plan to take lots of pictures, just for the memories.
