A
Mac-centric View
I like Mac users. Some of my best friends love to go on and on ... and on ...
about how the Macintosh is better, and how Macintosh users themselves are superior
human beings to Windows (or Unix) users, and how everyone's life would be better
if we simply adopted a more Mac-centric view of the world.
I don't have to agree or
disagree in order to be amused. I like Macs. Just about all the graphics on
the SNET web sites were produced by Macintosh people using Macintoshes. And
now -- after more than a year of nagging -- I've gotten one of those Macintosh
people to agree to share some actual words, not just images.
Without further ado, here's
Rich, our able and Mac-centric web and graphics designer.
Quality Mac Resources
Online
By Rich Stevens
I've been online with my
Macs for almost 5 years now, but still remember the frustrations of my early
days. Since then I've gotten my mom online with her iMac, I've gotten quite
a few of my friends up and running using - you guessed it- Macs.
In the interest of providing SNET's Mac users with some solid links they can
use, i've compiled this list of my top 5 Mac sites.
Here's where I go for Mac news and good reading:
AppleInsider- Insider news
and rumors.
This is where you find out about the new iMacs three months before they are
officially announced. this is where you find out what the next version of Photoshop
will look like. This is nothing short of a Mac crystal ball and in my opinion
it is actually quite accurate.
www.appleinsider.com
Iconfactory- Quality freeware
icons for your Mac.
Free icons, desktops and interface links. If you ever wanted to change anything
about the look and feel of your Mac, this is the site to go to. Possibly my
favorite Mac site.

The Macintosh News Network- Mac
news all day
This site is essentially the clearinghouse for Macintosh news. You'll
find lots of obscure shareware software and updates that you might not otherwise
find.

Audion-
A great Mac MP3 player
I was not terribly interested in MP3s until I found Audion. It maintains great
playlists of music, skips even less than Apple's own Quicktime Player and has
an amazingly customizable interface.

Accelerate your Mac- Tons
of great upgrade info. This is the place to find out about upgrading
your Macintosh. It has an especially impressive section devoted to blue and
white G3 machines. (Like the one I have at home.)
