You win some, you lose some. We liked our survey question about what kind of music would be popular after the turn of the millennium, and had hoped we'd get some wild-eyed, fun responses. Nobody really seemed to care, though -- sure, people voted, but we only received two comments. We would have thought the comment form was broken, except that we tested it a few times ourselves.
Anyway, the final results were:
Q: What style of music will be most popular in the 2000s?
- Rock/Pop - 1,533 (31.5%)
- Techno - 324 (6.7%)
- Rap/HipHop- 574 (11.8%)
- Country- 835 (17.1%)
- Classical - 223 (4.6%)
- Reggae - 124 (2.6%)
- Jazz/Swing - 461 (9.5%)
- Other/Something New784 (16.1%)
Here are your comments on this week's survey:
"I don't mean to be rude, but this question is both lame and boring. I have enjoyed previous surveys, and I hope that thought and quality will continue to prevail. Thank you." Bobby Baird, Bantam
To understand music one must enter the spirit ot the composer. The type of music reflects the character of the composer and that of the listener.
"Most are of low character ... lust, desires and emotions ... rock and roll. Classical expresses the greatest range of all emotions and the most beautiful and powerful of all sounds, as can be heard in movies to express love, sadness, joy, fear, hate, etc." Louis D. Jacaruso, Litchfield
