We resisted asking a "Star Wars" question until at least some people had a chance to actually see the movie. There's no question about the fact that George Lucas' latest is the pop-culture phenomenon of the summer -- but is it worth it?

Your opinions:
"The new Star Wars movie had all the elements of a blockbuster and I'm sure it will do well. It lacked the intensity and plot of the original trilogy." Ken, New Hartford
"I think that this new installment was more geared to kids, rather than to adults; of course, the special effects were great. However, I heard that "hardcore" Star Wars fans were somewhat disappointed. Does the word "marketing" ring a bell? J.H., Norwalk
"Episode 1 was the best! I have seen it twice and plan on seeing it again. If you put "I was disappointed," you must be mad. I collect all the toys, video games, etc. I loved it!!!" P.K., Stamford
"I went to see the new Star Wars movie and was greatly disappointed. It wasn`t worth the wait or the price." G.C., Torrington
"Star Wars was okay. They really need to get rid of Jar Jar in Episode 2." DukeBoy, North Haven
"How about asking people in your surveys if people like going to the movies at all? I'm curious what the response might be." Tom, Ashford
"It had a plot like a Saturday morning cartoon. The pod race dialogue could have been lifted from a Wacky Racers cartoon. If the live characters were not so flat and expressionless, it would have been quite good. Do you remember the line from "Space Balls, the Movie" ... Yogurt said, "Merchandising, is what make a movie great" - how true. I'd still like to have a Yogurt doll, but they never made any. He didn't follow his own advice." G.J.H., Southington
"I wish there were a ratimg between "Awesome" and "OK". I would say it was very GOOD entertainment, up to the standards George Lucas has established. I didn't expect it to hold the secrets to life, and I don't want to sound like the Star Wars equivalent of a "Trekkie" (whatever you would call that.)" J.I.T., Manchester
"The movie seemed slightly boring and bland at first, but its appeal grew on me. I think the use of computer generated effects gave it a very surreal feel. I'm surprised now, after having seen it twice, how memorable and moving much of the movie is." C.J., New Milford
"I remember Star Wars to be an action-packed film. This was a movie for kids. It was too "cute" for my taste. I remember watching Star Wars, Return of The Jedi, and Empire, now those were movies! DukeBoy is right, they need to get rid of that Jar Jar character. They spent to much time with one-liners and tried to make it into a comedy. I will be more reserved when the next one comes out." Chimba, East Haven
"Who cares? It's just a movie! I don't see why people have to waste their money to see this thing in a movie theater, either. Just wait till it comes out in video. People are way too obsessed with Star Wars. Who cares about a bunch of robots and superheros? I don't!" T.M., Ashford
