Your comments:

"I have not seen, anywhere in my travels, the colors in New England's foliage. This is the time of pumpkins, apples, pies, cider, Hallow'een and Thanksgiving. The nip in the air, even without the aroma of burning leaves; going to football games, homecomings and parades! Isn't it wonderful? This is the start of the rebirth of earth, flora and fauna which will come forth in spring!" M.F.B., Brookfield

"I'm a bit surprised that so many of the answerers think that autumn is too cold or they hate raking. I'm a father of two active kids who love helping with the leaf chores and the LARGE pile that we (including myself) enjoy jumping into. Also, we live in a unique area of the world where people pay a premium just to travel up here to see our georgeous foliage. The public at large needs to slow down a little and enjoy some of the little pleasures in life, one of those pleasures being our vivid color displays in the leaves!" Tom Lindy, Winsted

"There aren't enough answer selections. It is beautiful, but cold. You should include pretty, but not ready for cold weather!" M.C., Ridgefield

"You should have given the option of "a beautiful time of the year." It isn't necessarily my favorite time of the year, but it is beautiful." George, Killingly

"I was originally born in Reno, Nevada, but I moved here when I was six. I hate everything about Connecticut. The only nice thing I can say about this state is that it has a beautiful fall." C.M.S., North Haven

"It's the most beautiful time of the year in New England. It's known all over the United States for it, and although we do have to rake the leaves and stock up on warm clothing, it's always such an amazing sight to see." A.C., Enfield

"I and all my friends, acquaintances and people I've asked over the years want to abolish Daylight Savings Time." A.R., Westbrook

"I can't believe all of those people live in New England and don't love autumn! Even with raking leaves, it is just so beautiful! Stop and smell the roses, people, you are lucky to be alive and well!" Autumn Lover, Hebron

"I do like the season, but I dislike all the publicity Litchfield has received in magazines and newpaper articles. It is making life hell. Too many people, too many cars and the traffic. Oy. I wish the visitors would find a new place to fawn over." L.J., Litchfield

"I think that fall is the best time of year to spend time with friends and family. Yeah, I hate raking leaves too but hey, who doesn't? I also enjoy fall because it's time for the World Series. Although the fall weather can be quite chilly, I think it is a time to do many outdoor activities. The last reason I like fall is because winter is next and I can't wait to see the first sight of snow!" S.D., Warehouse Point

"You don't have one choice: I love jumping in leaves. I don't rake them, it's not too cold, it's not my FAVORITE season, but is not a little matter, it's fun! I think maybe your choices should be more kid-conscious!" Julia, Storrs

"Raking leaves is a lot of fun. We do it as a family -- we make a big pile, then jump in." J.A.M., West Haven

"I think autumn in Connecticut is beautifiul. People out there don't really appreciate it until they live in other states, where it's not as beautiful. I have been in San Diego ... and many other places ... I would honestly say Connecticut has the BEST autumn around." Jennifer, Naugatuck

"I do a lot of trail riding, and fall is the best time. It's not too hot and (there are) no bugs to bother the horse. The colors are breathtaking, riding through the woods. The thought of winter coming, though, gives me the chills!" M.L., Willington

"If you do not love a New England autumn, you have no soul." M.B.S., Litchfield
