Most respondents to this week's SNET Internet survey say they get by on less than the traditionally recommended 8 hours of sleep a night. We're a little envious of those who say they average more than 10.

The results:

Q: On the average, how many hours of sleep do you get a day?

  • Less than 4 - 119 (2%)
  • 4 or 5 - 1,017 (18%)
  • 6 or 7 - 3,424 (60%)
  • 8 or 9 - 1,047 (18%)
  • 10 or more - 112 (2%)

Your comments:

"Who can sleep knowing they have quotas, deadlines, overall stress of getting things on time? Procrastinate is not what I do either. I still manage to get sleep to a max of 4-5 hours." Beth, Windham

"As much as they say that 8 hours sleep is what you need, 6-7 hours is all that I seem to be able to get. They say as you get older you require less hours of sleep at one time -- possibly I should factor in those "cat naps" that happen unexpectedly!" Karen, Pomfret Center
