We misplaced the results for the survey on recycling, but recall that most people say that they do what they can.

Q: Do You Recycle?

Your comments:

"Our recycle company kicked us off the route. The E.P.A. couldn't enforce the company to pick up our recycables. Most people hate recycling. I am the opposite. I have no choice." E.L., Brooklyn

"I ALWAYS recycle.I'm thinking about my children and their children's future.I wish that we had the smarts to do this years ago. What makes me so angry is the lazy people that I work with. They would rather throw their cans in the garbage instead of walking the three feet to the recycling barrel. They are the ones without children!" K.J., Canterbury

"Everyone should take the time to recycle ... especially since they are teaching it to our children in school. We as adults need to set a good example." P.T., New Milford

"Why is there not more recycling options available in my city and state? Such as magazines and other type of plastics (higher numbered plastics and plastic bags)." Gadget, Shelton

"Isn't it about time they do away with the 5 cent deposits on soda bottles, etc.? With recycling bins available for each homeowner, isn't it time we put these empty bottles by the curb with the rest of the recycling! Who has time to bring back returns for the lousy 5 cents a bottle!" Tired of Nickel Deposits, Southington

"Since recycling is the law in CT, why is it we still have deposit bottles and cans? And why is it that only certain bottles and cans require a deposit?" Jel, Danbury

"The only way we can save this world is by everyone doing their part. I consider recycling a small inconvenience on my part to help cut down on pollution and extend the landfill sites. Why don't people take this seriously?" B.P., Colchester

"Bottles, cans, plastics, etc are comingled and often broken when recycled. Can they be recycled efficiently in this condition?" R.G.W., New Canaan

"We owe it to our children to preserve the environment for them. My neighbors fought a landfill because it was polluting their water and children were drinking lead, people were bathing in benzene. So we should not be a throw away society and packaging should not be such that "we the consumer" have the responsibility to dispose of it. I order in bulk so I don't have all that packaging, and i recycle everything that the town requires. I also believe every town should have the same recycling mandates." M.L.S., Naugatuck

"My neighbors are all good about recycling bottles, cans and newspapers, but I have never seen them recycle magazines and catalogs. They are so bulky I feel they should be an important part of our recycling efforts." L.A.M., Bethel

"There two things that Aamericans refuse to admit. 1.) There is no such place as "away." 2.) Everything on earth has been at one time recycled." Jon, Glastonbury
