Maybe 'tis the season to be jolly, but nearly a third of the respondents to this week's SNET Internet survey characterize their current state of mind as "frazzled," "depressed" or even "angry."

On the other hand, 44 percent are happy or even exuberant. The 9 percent in the latter category presumably had just finished shopping..

Q: My mood in the holiday season can best be described as:

  • Exuberant - 386 (9%)
  • Happy - 1,583 (35%)
  • I'm surviving - 1,269 (28%)
  • Frazzled - 478 (11%)
  • Depressed - 687 (15%)
  • Angry - 135 (3%)

Your comments:

"I retired this past year so am not as rushed to cram everything into a short span. Therefore I am very happy." L. A., Farmington

"Another year and I'm still here, what more could I ask for?" Bill, Windsor

"Serene should have been one of the options for mood at Christmas. Ultimately, I am serene at Christmas, and it's a nice way to feel." Kathryn, Plymouth

"The holidays, especially Christmas, make me feel like there isn't a care in the world." D.L., East Haven

"For every present under my tree, I feel I should get something more ... something better to reflect my feelings toward the recepient." Ennis, Vernon

"Avoiding the malls this year made me feel real good inside; the best I've felt since losing my other job. I shopped at a warm humane store." M.G., Meriden

My mood this holiday season is best put like this: Thank you for letting me speak out. I know that everything by me said was not all that good, I'm sorry! I did not wish any bad feelings. You are special to me, and thank you for letting me speak out. May God Bless You, and have a safe and Happy-New-Year." Francis, Windsor Locks
