Your comments:

"I would say I have four cats, but the truth is, four cats have me. As to how they got here, the answer is 'all of the above'. One was an emergency rescue, two were shelter kitties, and the fourth cat wandered up to the front foor one day this spring and refused to leave. My previous cat was a purebreed coon cat, who came as a gift from the breeder." Ruth, Bloomfield

"My pets came from rescue agencies, the humane society, or were taken from friends and off the street." DE, Danbury

"We got Scarlett, a 3 year old Boxer, from SCBR, Second Chance Boxer Rescue. The various rescue organizations for pets are great, and people should keep them in mind when considering a pet." Tom, Guilford

"My pets are all special needs guys - I wish there were more people who would consider adopting these poor animals, who have been so neglected by society." BB, Danbury

"There are a lot of animals that are displaced in our society, due to poor planning. If pet stores and breeders were responsible for educating people on the needs of their pets, there would be less throw-away animals." JFT, Bristol

"My friend was fishing with a bunch of kids from the neighborhood and they ran into this couple jigging with a worm. They hooked this painter turtle through the leg. He was only three inches long and ended up being part of the family. Now he has a big 45 gallon fish tank as his home, with it's own filter, heater and rocks. " PF, Bristol
