"I am pleased that we now can hopefully make some sort of progress in getting bills passed that won't be a chance rememberance due to the Democrats. Democrats in general ran a mud slinging campaign to try to gain what they had lost in the Presidential race. I hope that voters are not fooled when the next elecion comes around and this happens again. My condolences to the Wellstone family for their loss..." GMK, Waterbury

"Obviously George W. Bush carried the day! It took two years after the 2000 election and after the Democrats', the biased media's and other interest groups' partisan efforts to try and discredit President Bush. But finally the majority of the American people feel that George W. Bush and the GOP are the ones who should lead this country." Alex, Bristol, Forestville

"This year the polital make-up in this country went topsy-turvy and we'll have to deal if for better or worse. An all-either-party make-up is totally scary. Good luck America. I hope the President is not acting too quickly in terms of Iraq and Saddam simply as a revenge for something his father couldn't finish on his own. No wonder Gen Powell has never stood in favor of the War!..." JMW, Southington

"It is ABOUT TIME... finally an opportunity for a Republican President to work with a congress that is not going to simply stop anything he wants to do. I believe it has been almost 50 years since there was Republican control of the White House and the Congress simultaneously. We have seen where the country has gone in those 50 years: Socialist agendas, Government spending out of control, generations of Americans turned into government dependents by the welfare system intended to help people. Why? Simple people... if you keep handing out the goodies long enough, people will not have any incentive or even any ability to do for themselves... I hope this Congress gets some back bone and finally tells Tom Daschle, Dick Gephart and the rest of the socialists in Congress... to make good for yourself and your families. "The free ride is over." Yes I know that is wishful thinking but I can dream." DD, Sherman

"Gov. Rowland should do what Gov. Grasso did in the 70s and return the pay raise to the state of CT. He doesn't need the salary increase. It is also about time he start considering the state workers and all other workers in this state, and not just the Fairfield area residents. The tax base for the state certainly does not come from Fairfield... Giving us what Gov. Rowland wants and not what we need may be reflected in the example of Adrain's Landing. Do we really need it? I don't think so and I also don't think it will add to Hartford in a radical way. If a major team were to come in we might have a chance but without it very little will change. Why is it the past seven years have showed surplus or balanced budget and all of a sudden we have this enormous deficit? Who balanced the books? I would rather have not received last year's check of $300 only to give back maybe twice that this year. What is wrong with this picture? I'd like to add those of us who use to be in the middle are sinking to the bottom with the soon-to-be poor class once again." PCS, Meriden

"It is a travesty when only 39% of our citizens turn out to vote." LMS, New Britain

"I am very happy with the elections on the national level. Now we can finally get some work done!" John mC, Willimantic
