I believe it has been almost 50 years since there was Republican control of the White House and the Congress simultaneously. We have seen where the country has gone in those 50 years: Socialist agendas, Government spending out of control, generations of Americans turned into government dependents by the welfare system intended to help people. Why? Simple people... if you keep handing out the goodies long enough, people will not have any incentive or even any ability to do for themselves... He doesn't need the salary increase. It is also about time he start considering the state workers and all other workers in this state, and not just the Fairfield area residents. The tax base for the state certainly does not come from Fairfield... Giving us what Gov. Rowland wants and not what we need may be reflected in the example of Adrain's Landing. Do we really need it? I don't think so and I also don't think it will add to Hartford in a radical way. If a major team were to come in we might have a chance but without it very little will change. Why is it the past seven years have showed surplus or balanced budget and all of a sudden we have this enormous deficit? Who balanced the books? I would rather have not received last year's check of $300 only to give back maybe twice that this year. What is wrong with this picture?
