Partnership to Prevent Child Abuse

In response to "Abuses of Trust" ...

I received an announcement today (2/11/98) from an SNET Internet reader about an extremely importance alliance which has recently formed in Connecticut to help prevent and stop child abuse. The announcement reads as follows:

Partnership to Prevent Child Abuse is the very first statewide initiative of its kind in Connecticut - an alliance of public and private concerns dedicated solely to stopping child abuse.

In a recent independent, statewide survey conducted by the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, surveyed respondents almost unanimously recongnized the crucial role and responsibility of their communities in reducing child abuse. The same study, however, revealed that 85% of those same respondents had taken no personal action to prevent child abuse themselves.

That is why the organizations listed below formed the Partnership to Prevent Child Abuse. Not only to bring the issues, statistics, and truth about child abuse to the forefront of Connecticut consciousness, but, more importantly, to provide each individual and every community with the information, the tools, and the power to stop it.

We really can make a difference in the prevention of child abuse. Each and every one of us. And we can do it today.

Information: 1-800-CHILDREN
CT Careline: 1-800-842-2288

Members of the alliance: Cronin and Company, Department of Children and Families, Department of Public Health, Children's Trust Fund, American Academy of Pediatrics, Connecticut Center for Prevention of Child Abuse, and McDonalds Corporation.
