Windows XP: Limited or No Connectivity Status Message
If you upgrade to Windows XP Service Pack 2
and you use the Windows XP PPPoE connection software, you may receive an error message
indicating limited or no connectivity when you connect to the Internet. This message may be
displayed despite an established Internet connection. The message "Status: Limited or no
connection" will be displayed above the connection icon in the system tray as shown below:
To check that you are in fact connected
to the Internet, please launch your browser. If you are able to surf the Internet, you are
connected.
In order to avoid seeing the
"Status: Limited or no connection" message in the future, please do the following:
- Double-click on the Local Area Connection
icon in the system tray and the Network Connections window will appear.
- Double-click on the Local Area Connection
icon in the Network Connections window and the Local Area Connection Properties
screen will appear.
- On the General tab, uncheck
Notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity.
