MacOS 8

The following information will help you configure your computer running MacOS 8 for use with SNET Internet.

If you are planning to upgrade to MacOS 8:

If SNET Macintosh software is already installed on your computer and you are planning to upgrade to MacOS 8, you do not need to re-configure your Internet setup. After installing MacOS 8, you will be asked if you want to open the Internet Setup Assistant. Do not open the Internet Setup Assistant. Instead, choose Quit.

If you experience problems with your SNET Internet account after installing MacOS 8, please read the next section.

If you have upgraded to MacOS 8 and you are now having problems:

If you have upgraded to MacOS 8 and are experiencing problems with your SNET Internet account, you may need to re-configure the Internet Setup Assistant. Follow these steps:

1. Double-click the hard drive.
2. Double-click the Internet folder.
3. Double-click the Internet Setup Assistant.

Now, you will be asked to supply the following information:

• Login and password
• Domain Name Server (DNS). Enter the following values:

  204.60.7.2

  204.60.0.3

• Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP). Enter the following:

  smtp.snet.net

• Incoming Mail Server (POP). Enter the following:

  pop.snet.net

• News Server. Enter the following:

  news.snet.net

If you are a new customer with MacOS 8 installing SNET Macintosh software for the first time:

If you are using MacOS 8 and wish to install the SNET Macintosh software, you should use the Internet Set Up Assistant to configure your computer after you install the SNET software. The information needed is provided with your software package, or you can follow the same steps listed above (in the section labeled "If you have upgraded and are now having problems").
