FTP

"FTP" stands for "File Transfer Protocol," and an FTP program is software that you use to move files or entire folders between one computer and another. FTP is most often used for downloading software or for uploading files to a web site. For example, if you have built an SNET personal web page you need to transfer it to the Personal Home Pages server before it will be accessible to the world.

You can do this using the File Manager if you created a Personal Home Page using the Wizard. But if you created your Personal Home Page any other way, you will need to use an FTP program. SNET provides technical support for WS_FTP (Windows) and Fetch (Macintosh).

If you would like to use an FTP program other than the ones listed above, you may do so. However, we cannot offer any help for customers who use programs other than WS_FTP and Fetch.
